GAME 66 vs Toronto, Game Thread

New policy: I will not be discussing 30-point losses. Second policy: 28-point losses count as 30-point losses.

Toronto minus Chris Bosh tonight. Fun.

The third policy should be
threads with low comment-count should not be discussed. There is a reason why few people commented on that post

Let's see if this works
I think that if we're totally humiliating Toronto by, like 30 at the half, we need to rest our starters and go with Hawes and Williams all the way.

Even better if we're up by 40.

And if Calderon has a bad game.

But if KMart is shooting lights out, leave him in.

Getting a little excited...
for tonights game.  Its been a good sports day so far; Tiger wins, Lakers lose and Arizona makes the tourney.  I think a Kings win is in order

Let the Tanking Continue
With Chris Bosh sidelined and the Raptors needing a win the worst way, its time for the Raptors to end their 9 game losing streak and finally sweep the season series this season. The lottery is abound and time for the Kings to continue the tanking. Last night was a good start.

It's time to git 'er done!

NO reason to tank
the next team behind us in hte overall standing, the Pacers, are 5 losses behind us.  We arent going to catch (fall to) them at their curent pace, no matter how many games we lose.  We might as well play the young kids tons of minutes, and go for the win.

Actually
the next two behind us are ATL and CHI, currently 9 and 10 in the east. They are 2 and 3 losses behind us(in front of us?!?). We're currently slotted to pick 12th, maybe we could move up to 10th.

Personally I don't think it's worth tanking for. Just play it out.

call me crazy, but
I think that playing the young guys (somehow martin and beno don't count as you guys) and tanking are the same thing

by Travis Mays Hayes on Mar 17, 2008 12:12 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You guys complain about Artest...
but I see Martin doing nothing but forcing shots.  He is not playing team offense at all.

by KingsFan on Mar 16, 2008 6:31 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

So Kevin forces up some shots in 1 quarter
and somehow that is equal to what people have been complaining about for 3/4 of a season. OK.

by Kfan in Korea on Mar 16, 2008 6:41 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Shhhhhhh
Let Artest supporters have their moment. They might not have them much longer. Throw them a bone.

If he doesnt throw up shots
people complain that he doesnt assert himself enough.  I guess it's a lose-lose

Artest and Martin are a bad mix
It's a lose lose for both players. Artest continues to decrease his value, and Martin continues to have to be coddled when he isn't that type of personality. It's one facet of the reason why I've said, many times, that the bulk of the blame lay squarely on Geoff Petrie's  shoulder for not switching the mix up by not moving Artest. It's going to go down as his greatest mistake ever without a doubt. (Artest is not entirely to blame. He wants to win. Shouldn't you want a player like that on your roster? Even if it isn't realistic?)

They have five white boys on the court! lol

That is a racist statement
And you're probably white. So what does it matter? (To the majority, probably, not in any way.)

odd statement, that
"to the majority" - are you playing to the "majority" as in opposite of minorities, or the majority of the population racially mixed, or to the majority of the readers of this blog, or the majority of basketball fans? Each with an implied racial basis.

That is also a racist statement, made more odious by your missing implications, so one can freely draw their own hate-mongering conclusions. Careful, there, you could be saying all Black people hate all White people. Which would be as stupid as saying all Kings fans hate all Lakers fans.

Wait, damn. See, that's the problem with talking about race: You always end up making racist statements. Which is another racist statement in and of itself - I could be implying all humans are inherently racist. Which I'm not.

I'm just gonna go ahead and stop myself there, foot wedged firmly enough up my ass as it is.

The whole 5 white guys on the court thing
Who cares? Besides, is Rasho Nesterovic really white? Dude is from Slovenia. Anyway I just think it's dumb to call  Euro's white. Always have always will.

The whole racist thing was me being somewhat a smartass. (If you're good enough to play in the NBA does it matter what color you are? That was equally as true in 1947 as it is in 2008, yes?)

Wait, damn. See, that's the problem with talking about race: You always end up making racist statements.
Oh so true sir, oh so true. My soapbox is safely tucked away now. Race is the last exact thing I wish to discuss on this blog.

This has been debated
In order for a true "white out" to occur, all five players need both be white, and American.  Europeans dont count.

I didnt come up with the term white out, so dont point fingers at me, but thats the correct term.

That pro bably won't ever happen again

Kings have
more turnovers than assists in the game.  Don't know who this reflects on worse: Toronto or us.

It was a win, but...
it sure wasn't pretty.

Anyway, Kings win and Lakers lose, so you should have a good day at work tomorrow!

God bless you, Corliss. You always played as though you knew how expensive my tickets were. -section214

Oh KK...
...you understand my world!  The best part will be how no one will bring up pro basketball at all.  When the Lakers win, I dont even sit down at my desk before I hear about it.  Tomorrow, there will be less window flags in the parking lot.

maybe
that's just in hawaii. i wouldn't be surprised. the state finds a reason to make everything else more expensive.

That is so retarded I swear
NBA TV should be free for LP subscribers. (It is for me. I have Comcast though. Not AOL Timewarner.)

Nice game
Meaningless for us this year, but not in the context of learning to win over time. Certainly the Raptors needed it.

I liked the way Martin and the team stepped up in crunch time and put together some nice possessions after the Raptors got within one. Kevin seems to be playing off his teammates more instead of being an isolation scorer, and that's also a positive development. Udrih is looking for him, Ron is looking for him, and he's developing a nice two-man game with Mikki as well.

The face of this team probably isn't going to change much between now and next season, so they might as well build on what they have.
