GAME 73 at Seattle, Preview & Game Thread

Kevin Pelton, as always, has a marvelous preview for Sonics.com. He reminds us of Kevin Martin's poor night in the last Seattle-Sacramento game, which was arguably the worst game of Speed's career. The Sonics doubled him everywhere, refused the pass to him off screens, and generally caused havoc. And of course, Martin has to deal with Kevin Durant on the other end.

It does not appear Beno Udrih will play, and Spencer Hawes is questionable. It'd be a shame if this were the final Kings game in Seattle, as Hawes would surely love to have a massive night in his hometown... if only his ankle would cooperate.

This team's playing for two more wins, and they'll hardly find a better opportunity for one than tonight. No Chris Wilcox, who always destroys our frontline.

I offered some thoughts from our side for Sonics.com, as well.

one bad game

does not erase all the games (preseason included) where Kevin Martin massacred Durant. He can't even guard him one on one, that is why they have to double

It's too bad Artest is still on this team

Or else I WOULD have taken the day off live to see this game. As it stands I could care less about it now. Go, umm, team.

Hmm any assistance appreciated...

I know I've read before about some people being able to watch the games for free online through various websites, by chance can someone post a link or two? I was using NBA league pass for the first half of the season but they started demanding I pay, haha... Broke college student can't afford no darn subscription fee!

From the broadcast - name the 2 former Kings that have played major league baseball.

I got Mark Henricksen (spelling?) right away, but I had to think for a few minutes before remembering Danny Ainge.

I did have to crack up at this little bit of enterprising reporting:

"Sacramento coach Reggie Theus has had his share of issues with his players and that was evident on a Kings possession where point guard Anthony Johnson dribbled the ball for 10 seconds waiting for Artest to set a pick, and Artest waited for an entry pass that never happened.

When it was obvious that Artest either did not know the play or had his own agenda, Theus screamed out, "Set the (expletive) pick" at Artest, who never set the pick. Artest did finish the first half with 16 points and seven rebounds and was the key reason why the Kings trailed just 65-62."
