The View From Section214, 3/7

Ah, it will be nice to watch an easy win after the gut wrenchers vs. the LA "A" and "B" squads.

Pregame
Benefits of going to a Kings/Wolves game:

  1. Parking is not a problem.
  2. No concession lines.
  3. Increased odds of being chosen for the half court shot.
  4. Nobody wearing T'Wolves garb.
  5. A good chance to compare the "slowly rebuild" theory to the "blow it up" theory.
  6. Peaches and Scream out of ear shot.
Bad things:
  1. Seeing the pound puppy (aj) live twice in one week.
  2. Parking was still $10, even for this match up.
  3. Gary Gerould out of ear shot.
No Ron tonight means K9(woof!) and the pound puppy both in uniform.
Beno is the program centerfold tonight - the audition continues.
About nine thousand people here - the same as the free practice a couple of months ago.

1st Quarter
The applause and crowd noise is almost Music Circus like.
Ooh, nothing polite about that Martin dunk and the crowd livens up.
Five TO's, little defensive pressure and we're down by one.

2nd Quarter
Every time Anthony Johnson hits a three an angel gets their wings...there are still a lot of grounded angels.
How does Martin get those shots off after that heavy contact? Amazing.
Artest has been flawless tonight.
Udrih goes down. I think he got hit somewhere between Slovenia and Tasmania.
20-32 quarter. Yuck.

Halftime
Kayte is wearing three inch heel boots. I think Koz is both frightened and aroused.

3rd Quarter
Now it's Randy Foye's turn to take one in the manhood. He got the F knocked right out of him. Call him Randy Oye. The NBA, where blood in your urine happens.
Angela Tsai just walked into our section. Hello!
Mikki is cut? Do lobsters bleed?
The boos come out after Salmons holds for 15 seconds and then turns it over.

4th Quarter
How does Martin keep doing that?!?
Slamson hits the half court shot, granny style.
This is not the type of performance the Maloof's need with the season renewal packages going out.
Three minutes left, down by eleven, maybe six thousand people still here (including media, family, players and vendors).
Theus calls timeout with 22 seconds left and us down by 10 - sigh.

Postgame
48 for Martin and I go home depressed. How does that happen? Get that f*!%ing thing out of my face. This interview is over. End transmission.

An odd thought
This is not based on anything, and I hope it isn't true, and I have no reason to think that it is, but I wonder if Artest's sore foot could be repayment for the fine levied by Theus?

Section
The whole "end transmission" thing proves you're old. Maybe you'd prefer to streamline the whole process and prove how "up to date" and "modern" you are. I'm just saying as a "resident" drunk prick. :)

You mean
I should end with "pwn nub" or something like that? No thanks. I'll continue to fly Pan Am, use my Smith Corona typewriter and listen to Grand Funk Railroad on my 8 track player, thank you very much. This internet thing is a fad, anyway. It should pass in another month or so.

And the only good transmission is a manual transmission, with a crank starter. And stay off my lawn, you little bastards. And I was born here, raised here, and god dammit I'm going to die here. No good punk kids.

OK, I feel better now.

Is this team
THAT much better with Artest?

Last I checked
Artest is still on this team. That is the Kings with Ron Artest. Sometimes he plays - sometimes he doesn't.

In 9 seasons Ron has missed 10 or more games to injury/suspension/personal leave 6 times, including seasons of 19, 26, 27, 75.

Ron Artest is a great player. A game changer. And he is completely undependable.

Yes we did
And how is this an endorsement of Artest? Dude called in sick last night. Again, it fits what most of us are saying about Artest.  Great talent, but you can't rely on him on an ongoing basis.

I have no doubt he will reappear tomorrow for the Laker game though...

And in the process look healthy
doing so.

Oh come on
Look how much better we looked in Miami when Ron was playing. He is the future of this team.

It's ironic
I still haven't bothered to watch the Kings-Wolves games and see Kevin's career night. I have no joy watching this team anymore for some sad reason. I wouldn't feel that way if Ron was around I'm sure of it. I, also, wouldn't have the impulse to chop Petrie's legs off out of anger either.

when u do watch the game
check out the 4 point play by martin. I have watched it several times, and i cant figure out if he got credit for a three on his shot. score only added 2, then made free throw. i kept waiting for the other point to go up, but i didnt notice. i think we had 79, he stepped over line, defender jumped, he slid his foot behind line, jumped into defender and made the shot. maybe im only one to notice, maybe im tarded, verify for me please?

Upon further review
It was scored as a 4 point play. The Kings had 78 pts at the time. They went to 82 pts after the 4 pt play. (It was a 4 pt play also. His feet were clearly behind the line.)

Called as 4
originally and they put 3 up on the score but pulled it back. Peaches called it a four for the rest of the 4th quarter but then referred to it in the post game wrap up as three without ever explaining the change (that I heard, anyway).

During tonight's game they referred to it as a three point play.

I just checked ESPN's play by play and they scored it as three.  Kings had 79 before the play and finished it with 82.

The play happens with 9:08 left in the fourth.

God bless you, Corliss. You always played as though you knew how expensive my tickets were. -section214
