GAME 74 vs Clippers, Game Thread

Egads: The Clippers can sweep the season series with a win in Sacramento tonight.

Only Kurt Angle can save us now. (Actually, I'm most excited about Vincente Escobido.)

Game's at 7. Shock & Hawes is back. Start him at the point!

Go Kings.

Vincente?
Pssh, he didn't win a gold medal with a broken freaking neck like Kurt did. Now THAT'S moxie. Even if it did contribue towards his declining mental state to the point where he thinks he can beat Randy Couture in an legit MMA match. (Not to be confused with his decidedly not legit MMA style match with Samoa Joe at TNA Lockdown)

IF I were a gambling man...
Wow, Vegas sure expects us to win tonight.

The Kings are 10 point favorites
The money line is -700!  (you would have to bet $700 on the Kings to win striaght up in order to win $100)
The over/under is 209.5

Wait....Why is everybody clapping? Everyone around me is clapping.... I guess I should be clapping too... GO LAKERS!!! I hate living in So Cal

I'll take
The Kings to win, but not to cover.  And I'll take the over.

The Kings arent getting swept by the Clippers (I hope saying it adds to my confidence).

Clips front line
The other night it was Josh Powell, Thornton and Maggette with Brand off the bench. It appears that Kaman is done for the year.

Dan Dickau will make an appearance as the slow, short, white guy that lights the Kings up from the perimeter.

Big Dog
Kaman is out tonight. Via Clipper Steve of Clips Nation.

The Big Picture:

Elton Brand is back!  The Clippers are undefeated with Brand in the lineup!  They're undefeated in the month of April!  And they're undefeated against the Kings this season!  This game is a lock.  Seriously, after the way the Kings have manhandled the Clippers over the years, it would be pretty sweet to get the sweep.  Not to mention really, really embarrassing for Ziller.  Of course, Kaman has been the King killer this season, and he won't be playing.  But EB has had his share of big games against the Kings over the years as well.  Tim Thomas is listed as doubtful, Cat Mobley as day to day.  I don't see either of them playing given the insignificance of the game.  Not to mention that MDsr is probably happy to continue evaluating the likes of Marcus Williams and Nick Fazekas.

at the game
Koz said his producers never gave him the shirt. I walked right up to where Peaches and Jerry were and had security get their attention. I wish I could video tape the reaction. I ran into another StR member and he said that he tried to get a picture of Jerry's reaction. Peaches scowled and didn't seem to approve. Jerry immediatly busted up laughing. They both got a kick out of the Oh boy on the back though.

Oh, and I think I was on house party. Passed that I'm just waiting for Kurt Angle, who apparently isn't signing till after the game

I missed the opening House Party ,
but the Peaches caricature on the T made the Jack Daniels shots of the game segment in the 4th.  I was half asleep but perked right up when they showed it.

Peaches:  I have no idea who that is.
Jerry:  I have no comment (laugh).

Or something like that.  Somebody with tivo can clean it up.

Great job, guys!

God bless you, Corliss. You always played as though you knew how expensive my tickets were. -section214

Nice 10-0
run to close out the half including back to back 3s by Kevin, last one a buzzer beater. Kings up 50-43.

Theus played the backups a lot of minutes.

ron ron
He's not even trying out there. I haven't been to a game this late in the season since the mid-90s, everybody's slacking. They didn't even pass out the balloons/thunderstix. Oh, and Jerry Reynolds wants a Peaches shirt. Someone should get on that.

But she was not at the game. Hence, she must not be among the annoying cheeleaders of whom you speak. Therefore, no apology is needed.  :)

to all those involved with the Peaches shirt, especially its first TV appearance.  It made my night.  Cheers to StR!

Stat line for the night
Brad Miller 10 rebs 4 assists 4 steals 3 blocks 1 TO 2 PF. So what if he shot 2-7 I don't care, you have to love the activity, especially against a front line he should dominate (Brand excluded). On a side note it is good as a baskeball fan to see Elton back on the court. He's a tremendous talent and I live for the days when the Lakers are the second best team in LA.

Wow
I had no idea they made that the image of the game. That kicks ass. Tonight rocked. Kings win, embarrass Peaches, meet my favorite wrestler, just wow. The shirt's a big hit with lots of people in the arena. I got stopped a few times and asked where I got it, so the SPCA might be getting a bit of cash soon.

Kevin Martin is spoiling me
I was watching the game and I kept saying to myself that Maggette was eating us alive. He wound up with 28 point on 23 shots in 38 minutes.

Meanwhile, I thought Martin had a rather pedestrian performance, considering that he sat the entire 4th quarter. Martin wound up with 26 points on 14 shots in 29 minutes.

Me likey.

Is it just me
or has Kevin Martin increased his attention to passing since Beno went down?

you're right
his assist numbers over the last few games would be crazy if the big men he passed it to most of the time could catch the ball!

Maggette
Ron was really hit or miss defending him. I don't think Ron was ever really locked into this game. He put together a decent 2nd half, but Maggette was getting to the hole way too easy sometimes. From where I was sitting (somehow nobody told me to leave when the game started so I spent the entire game about 6 rows back from Peaches and Jerry, best $10 I ever bought) it was apparent that Ron had at least partially checked out for the season, and Ron needs as much of him checked in as possible.

Ron
He wasn't looking for his offense much, but he did come up with the steal that ignited the 10-0 run into halftime that ended up being the crucial stretch of the game. He ended up +18 in 29 minutes, second on the team, and had four assists.

Maggette can be a tough cover. He's quick enough to get to the hoop, and he's got a decent outside shot to make you pay that way as well.
