Golden State or Denver?

There's been some debate since Saturday's win over Denver, and with tonight's game at Golden State looming: Which team would you rather see in the playoffs?

The crimes against Denver: They deserve punishment for not giving up Linas Kleiza for Ron Artest at the deadline.

The crimes against Golden State: Local rival; Stephen Jackson got all "scoreboard" on Reggie Theus because coach took a late timeout in a Kings blowout win to get his starters out of the game; revenge for Monta Ellis's MIP robbery of Kevin Martin still required.

To me, it's no contest. I'm willing to listen to arguments, though. Poll on the right.

I should note...
This game still haunts me, as well.

it still messes with me too.
It was a good game, Both teams played hard. Both teams played hard, my man. Both teams played hard. Both teams played hard, God bless and good night.

Here it is... Kobe's Pacific Division Winner...

Kinda a blessing in disguise actually. I didn't think that '04 team could have beaten the Lakers or the Spurs. We didn't beat the T-Wolves but we were seriously inches away from sweeping the Timberwolves before missing so many key opportunities in Games 2,3 and 7.

The T-Wolves series should have ended in 4 (sweep for Kings) not in 7 (crushing loss).

Denver, barely
The tie breaker for me - ARCO has never been infested with obnoxious Nugget fans. To be fair, we were probably just as obnoxious when we used to travel down to Oakland.

And has anyone noticed that Sactown's finest leads the NBA in flagrant fouls (5)? What up with that, Matt?

On the other hand, Denver sports the only team with a trifecta of double digit "T" receivers ('Melo, Martin and...Kleiza?) and their coach sent his attorney after a blogger a la Peaches because the blogger created a website and named it firegeorgekarl.com.

The irony is that we could wind up rooting for one of these teams in the 1st round if the Lakers secure the top seed.

Ick.

I only root for the Kings to win
Every other team is in-consequential.

Rule 5 section A Part A says that any team with Ron Artest automatically becomes dramatically in-consequential.

I voted
for Golden State to miss out. Mostly because S. Jackson is an asshat. Either team will be one and done in the first round anyway.
Beer. Its not just for breakfast anymore.

by Beer king on Apr 8, 2008 8:36 AM PDT   0 recs

I'd rather that
Denver get the 8 seed. Monta stole the MIP award (although he is playing well this season) and I think Denver has a better shot because of Melo, AI, Camby and Martin

by kingme on Apr 8, 2008 8:53 AM PDT   0 recs

Bums
After Denver's last 2 losses, I just don't think they deserve it.  (Not that Golden State's been all that hot recently either; they just haven't lost to the lowly Sonics)

And kingme, are you serious?  Have you been watching them?  They can't beat the Sonics but somehow they're going to beat the Lakers?

O....K....

by thelettere on Apr 8, 2008 9:54 AM PDT   0 recs

GOLDEN STATE
all the way. Ever since they talked shit after we beat them a few weeks ago. "They'll be having fun watching us in the playoffs"

by kingsTV on Apr 8, 2008 11:25 AM PDT   0 recs

I'm with ya on that
We should make Fitzgerald and whatever-the-hell-his-name-is choke on those words if GSW misses the playoffs.

I hope GS makes it in
I just like Baron Davis too much, even though Stephen Jackson sounded like an idiot, GS is too much fun too watch. Watching them come from behind to beat the lakers earlier this year with a BD fadeaway, or beating boston with a buzzer beater...this team is just exciting to watch, no matter who they are playing. (And I hope it will be New Orleans...as much as I would like to see GS match up with and beat LA in round one, if NO gets #1 in the west, then Paul HAS to win the MVP over Kobe)

by Spiegel on Apr 8, 2008 12:38 PM PDT   0 recs

GOLDEN STATE
I definitely want to see the Warriors miss the playoffs.  The nuggets getting knocked out in the first round will remind them they needed Artest just as much as missing the playoffs will.

However, the Warriors and their fans drive me nuts.  I hate seeing them in our building when I watch the games.  They're obnoxious.  And I've got to agree with the above post, their commentators comment about us watching the playoffs from home pissed me off.

Wait....Why is everybody clapping? Everyone around me is clapping.... I guess I should be clapping too... GO LAKERS!!! I hate living in So Cal

I want both in ?!?!?!
I want GS in because of the BARON !!! Plus GS is a really fun team to watch and the Wild Card in the playoffs.  Oh and Kenyon Martin is a jerkoff !!!

I want Denver in because if they face the Lakers in the first round  they have a better chance of beating them in the playoffs rather than GS.

i want the warriors
to make it in.  THATS RIGHT. so that way they can sport those  we believe shirts like they invented that saying, only to watch their undersized squad get bounced.

Bay Area can believe in leavin the coliseum parking lots after a 4 game sweep by New Orleans.  lol CP3 4 MVP. that would be kind of funny

nice people in GS
Just a short post from www.goldenstateofmind.com
------------------------------
Nothing but love for Sacto....

....for two years running now. Last year, the only reason we made the playoffs was because the ELIMINATED Sacto Kings went down to Staples and knocked off the Clippers on the last Sunday of the regular season. This year, the ELIMINATED Sacto Kings went into Denver without Artest, Miller, and Udrih, and knocked off a well-rested Denver Nuggets team. If we make the playoffs by ONE game again this year, it's because of Sacramento.

So....thank you Kings. Now pls do us one more favor and roll over tonight.
------------------------------

Seriously, most of the people there seem to like Sacramento.

And regarding the question - probably Denver OUT. I just do not like too many headbands at once...

by KingsFanfromCentralEurope on Apr 8, 2008 4:21 PM PDT   0 recs

Denver Out
Because they haven't helped themselves losing to us and the sonics, and I don't think they have what it takes to hang with anyone in the playoffs in a best of seven.  I like the Warriors.  I loved what they did last year and I love watching them play.  They have that swag that even though match-up wise they can't beat anyone, they believe they can (much like those shirts).

Even though I hate him for stealing the MIP, I love the way Monta Ellis plays and his similarities to Kevin.  Baron is exciting to watch, especially the way he ate up Devin Harris and Jason Terry last year.

I don't hate Stephen Jackson for what he said because I probably would have said the same thing, and I thought it was pretty funny when I first heard it.  He's also a great teammate (even though he had to deck a few fans to prove it).

when will the Kenny Thomas Reign of Terror end?!!??

Denver
I want Denver out for being stupid and thinking they could compete without taking Artest off our hands.

by Carl on Apr 8, 2008 6:01 PM PDT   0 recs

I'm voting with Carl on this one!
I want Denver to have every possible second to regret not taking Artest off our hands.

Their starters are aging quickly and they would have only had Artest for one and a quarter seasons.  He would have been a perfect teammate for 99% percent of that time.

Plus, it won't hurt my feelings if the GSW are watching the playoffs with the Kings in two weeks.

God bless you, Corliss. You always played as though you knew how expensive my tickets were. -section214

Just for the record
I voted for the Warriors, because I misread the question as to who I would rather have make the playoffs . . . so I agree with you both (the non-trade upsets me more than anything else).

I wasn't going to mention (admit?) my mistake, but checking the poll it's currently a 2-vote difference (88-90), meaning that it's actually an even 50-50 split right now had I voted correctly (89-89).

Like Sacramento & the playoffs, GS can thank me if they win this poll by 1 vote.

Don't worry, smgmatt
Due to some back room Chicago style shenanigans, Denver's still getting voted out of the playoffs.

However, they don't seem to have gotten the message since GS is currently losing to them at
the start of the 4th.
