KINGS/SPURS - GAME 3 Open Thread

New, comments

Well, it's now or never.

The Kings have exactly 48 minutes tonight to prove they belong in the NBA playoffs. (Unless, of course, they have 53 minutes. Or 58 minutes. Or hell, maybe even 63 minutes. That'd be insane.)

Must-win games are actually few and far between over the course of an NBA season. But make no mistake that this is a must-win game. The season is over if the Spurs get back to the Hyatt celebrating.

The things Kings fans can hope for, then:

  1. Lots of Reef. Lots and lots of Reef. April 20th levels of Reef. Parking lot behind Tower Cafe levels of Reef. Ozomatli Reef. Mucho mucho Reef.
  2. Continued quality defense on Tony Parker. Kevin Martin isn't getting the start, which stinks because he played tremendous defense on Le Petit Prince on Tuesday. So the effort's got to come from somewhere. I'm personally guessing it won't be from Le Bibby Lent, n'est-ce pas? (Je vraiment assez souvent n'obtiens pas d'employer mon francais. Mon francais pouvre, rellement. Ou est Boris Diaw quand il est necessaire? O, mon dieu.)
  3. An early Gregg Popovich ejection (or battle with food poisoning-induced medical issues). "Tonight, in a 30-FOOT STEEL CAGE - it's Rick Adelman versus P.J. Carlesimo, no holds barred!" It's the Kings' best chance, really.
  4. Some acceptable level of contribution from Bibby and Miller. Not 30/10 and 25/10/5. But something.
  5. Tim Duncan to be kept under wraps. He can't stay in his turtle shell the entire series, can he?
Other than that, things look great!

LET US NOW WIN MY FRIENDS THE KINGS! RAH RAH SHISH BOOM YA! HOOTY HOO! GO KINGS! DEFENSE! DEFENSE! F.U. BAL-KI! CHA CHA CHA-CHA-CHA! WOOOOHOOOO! LET'S GO KINGS!

(Note: That was my sorry noise contribution as I will not be at ARCO tonight. C'est la vie.)
