Basketball Town Closes

ADA lawsuits have forced the closure of Basketball Town. Yesterday was the last day; many of the Kings players held youth camps at the center over the summer, and everything from youth and adult league games to regional tournaments to benefits are held there throughout the year.

But Basketball Town couldn't afford the legal costs or the costs it would take to install an elevator. The man who sued did so because a child's birthday party he was attending was held in an upstairs party room and there was no way for his wheelchair to get up there. (The folks at Basketball Town moved the party downstairs eventually. That wasn't enough.)

It sucks a great facility is going to sit there vacant. The kids use the hell out of that building... but they'll have to find another place for the winter.
