I finally found a real reason to love Spencer Hawes. Kings.com has asked all the players what they'd pick for intro music if the NBA had such a thing. Most of the players (Nik Caner-Medley included) chose a hip hop song. (Bigs up to El Flaco for the reggaeton, though.) Reggie Theus went with Donna Summer. (?!?) Ron Artest even picked one of his own creations.
But Spencer Hawes? He's different. His choice:
Though his body says stop, his spirit cries never
Deep in our soul a quiet ember
Knows it's you against you
It's the paradox that drives us on
It's a battle of wills, in the heat of attack
It's the passion that kills
The victory is yours alone
In the burning heart, just about to burst
There's a quest for answers, an unquenchable thirst
In the darkest night, rising like a spire
In the burning heart, the unmistakable fire
This kid is so freaking American it hurts.
Just be glad Sergei Monia's no longer in town, I guess. And make sure you watch the first Jazz match-up; I sense Andrei Kirilenko's nose will be in danger.
