Kurt Rambis, Brian Shaw Will Interview for the Head Coach Job

New, comments

From the Los Angeles Times:

The Seattle SuperSonics and Sacramento Kings have received permission from the Lakers to interview assistant coach Kurt Rambis for their head coaching jobs, a league source said.

Rambis, 49, has been an assistant with the Lakers for a total of nine seasons, and was the team's interim head coach in 1999. He coached the team during training camp last October while Phil Jackson was recovering from hip surgery and guided the Lakers to a road victory at Golden State in their second game of the season.

Brian Shaw and Jim Cleamons are also being interviewed for head coach positions, Shaw by Indiana and Sacramento, and Cleamons by Seattle.

Would the Maloofs really sign off on the hire of Rambis -- a Lakers legend? Interesting development.
