UPDATE: Matt from Blog-a-Bull brings up a good point in the comments: Brown has coached with the U.S. team in various roles over the years. Mike Bibby and Shareef Abdur-Rahim were a part of those teams, and Brown might have been there when Brad Miller participated in some late 1990s qualifying. Touche.
