Finishing Strong

New, comments

Last year, not only did the team finish weak, but Sactown's bright spot limped into the offseason as well.

Not the case this season.

Kevin Martin just completed the best month of his pro career, with 26.3 points per game on .634 true shooting, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Speed will finish the season in the league's top 15 in scoring, true shooting percentage, FTAs, FT%, offensive rating, and offensive win shares. He will finish in top 25 -- and possibly the top 20 -- in PER, and most likely 5th among all shooting guards (behind Manu Ginobili, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade and Allen Iverson).

We'll likely see his minutes cut in April as Reggie Theus deals with the mandate to get Quincy Douby more minutes. But if Sunday night's 31 points on .688 TS% are any indication, he'll finish out this strong season on a strong kick.

(Ron Artest had a great March, too: 23.8 points on  .559 TS%, with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals. The team has as a whole went 7-8, which can be at least in part attributed to 6.5 DNPs for Beno Udrih, three for Artest, and one for Brad Miller.)
