Geoff Petrie announced on Wednesday that legendary Pete Carril will not resume duties as an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings. Carril has an open invitation to serve in an advisory role, but it's not clear whether he will take it.
The Kings lost Mario Elie, Truck Robinson and Otis Hughley from last year's staff. Those two were replaced by former Golden State Warriors coach Keith Smart and recent Kings scout and awesome dude Bobby Jackson. According to reporters at Petrie's presser, the team could replace Carril with an additional coach.
Carril is the creator of the Princeton offense, one of Petrie's mentors, a veritable wizard and possibly the greatest living American.
