Shall we go, you and I while we can? Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds
-- "Dark Star," Grateful Dead
It's Deadhead night at ARCO Arena as Bill Walton welcomes special Greateful Dead-related guests (get there early, if you're going!) and the Kings welcome the smokin' hot Dallas Mavericks. I'd love to wax poetic on the Dead and drop some lyrics, but I stopped listening to jam bands when I was 17 and I got patchouli poisoning at a Dave Matthews show. Bad times, brahs and brahladies.
So let's leave the Deadhead references to Bill Walton. (Remember when he'd center ESPN columns around those? Ahh ...) In the meantime, the Kings have a real task. The Mavs have won nine straight, and despite massive issues at small forward, are playing as well as anyone not named the Spurs. Dirk Nowitzki is the star in this galaxy, with Jason Terry, Shawn Marion and Tyson Chandler all playing their roles. J.J. Barea has also been lovely of late; his track meet with Pooh Jeter should be a blast.
Check out HighTops' scouting report. Game's at 7. Game threads at 7 and 8:30. Let's go Kings! Long live the Giraffe!
