The hits just keep on coming for DeMarcus Cousins. The NBA today announced that DeMarcus Cousins would be suspended one-game for striking O.J. Mayo in the groin in Monday night's loss against the Dallas Mavericks.
NEW YORK, Dec. 12, 2012 - DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings has been suspended one game without pay for striking O.J. Mayo of the Dallas Mavericks in the groin area, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.
The incident occurred with 3:35 remaining in the second quarter of Sacramento's 119-96 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, Dec. 10 at American Airlines Center.
Cousins will serve his suspension tonight when the Kings visit the Milwaukee Bucks at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
You can view video of the incident here.
DeMarcus has claimed the hit was unintentional, although it most certainly looks intentional upon replay. After the game, Mayo went to town on Cousins, saying that the young center has "mental issues".
This is the second suspension of the year for DeMarcus. He was previously suspended two games for confronting Spurs Color Commentator Sean Elliott after a game in November.
