Marcus Thornton injury: Kings guard carried off the court with sprained ankle

Marcus Thornton turned his ankle badly in third quarter of the Kings' win over the Celtics. He didn't return.

Marcus Thornton suffered what appeared to be a nasty sprained ankle in the third quarter of the Kings' Sunday win over the Celtics. Thornton was carried off of the court to the locker room and didn't return.

He injured the ankle by coming down on Jason Terry on a three-point attempt. Terry did step under Thornton while contesting the shot, but it didn't look to be intentional or dirty. As it were, Thornton hit the three. As he couldn't take the foul shot, Doc Rivers picked James Johnson to come into the game and take it. He sunk it.

Tyreke Evans didn't play, but could be back for the four-game road trip that begins Tuesday in Detroit. (Evans is getting a second opinion on his knee on Wednesday, and as such isn't likely to play until Friday at the earliest.) Aaron Brooks missed Sunday's game, too. Thornton started next to Isaiah Thomas, who played an incredible game (27 points on 10-15 shooting). If neither Thornton or Evans can play on Tuesday, one would expect Francisco Garcia to get the nod.

Thornton finished the game with five points on 2-7 shooting.
