The Kings defeated the Denver Nuggets 90-88 in their season opener Wednesday night in front of a raucous, sold-out Sacramento crowd.

The crowd was decked out in all purple and brought a ton of energy throughout the game, leading many of the players to compliment the fans following the game.

Below are what some of the players had to say to reporters in the locker room, a few of them even challenged Kings fans to continue the energy for the rest of the season.

"It was unbelievable, I mean, the fans came out, it felt like one of them games versus the Lakers with Shaq out there, you know. That's how loud it was, it was great. These fans are one of a kind and hopefully they keep it going this whole year." - Isaiah Thomas

"It was amazing, I was just telling someone before here that one thing Kings fans should know is it shouldn't just be a one-time thing, you know, it shouldn't just be for the home opener. If you could consistently have an atmosphere like that it could be one of the toughest places to play." - Jason Thompson

"The fans were incredible, they really helped us get through this game tonight. We probably wouldn't have got this win without them." - DeMarcus Cousins

"What an unbelievable atmosphere ... I've played with two other teams and I've never seen an arena as, you know, thumping and so into the game." "Our fans have been doing a great job, even before I was here I'm sure it was terrifying and horrible thinking that Sacramento, they were going to move the team to Seattle, even myself, I didn't like it. Now that I'm here, I think it's not a distraction ... and the people are so committed to the team." - Greivis Vasquez

"The whole game - before the game, the intro, the whole day since 5 o'clock, the fans were into the game and they were ready, they were definitely ready tonight and they willed us to that win."  "[Ranks] right up there, I still have to give the edge to my first home game here against the Clippers, I still have to give an edge to that game." - Marcus Thornton

"It was great tonight, it was very emotional and I am glad we could get the win for ourselves, but most importantly the fans who fought for this team." "Tonight it was rocking, the fans were screaming, they were loud, they were in to the game, they were passionate, so like I said, hopefully it is like this all year long." - Patrick Patterson

"It's definitely up there as one of the best atmospheres we've had since I have been here. We've had some really good games as far as the crowd, but tonight was really special. You could tell the fans appreciate what the new organization is doing as far as moving in the right direction and keeping the team here." - Johnny Salmons

The Kings announced during Wednesday's game that less than 1,000 tickets remain for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
