The United States ended group play with yet another blowout victory today, beating Ukraine 95-71. In what has become somewhat of a trend, the USA started off slowly, trailing Ukraine by 5 after the first quarter, but eventually going on a 30-13 run to get back on track.
Team USA's victory was not without a scare however, as Kyrie Irving took a hard fall late in the game. Fortunately it appears he is alright and did not sustain any major injury.
DeMarcus Cousins had another good game, scoring 11 points on 4-8 shooting to go with 3 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in 15 minutes of action. Rudy Gay on the other hand had a very rough game, scoring just 2 points on 1-7 shooting, but he did add 3 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist in his 12 minutes of action.
Former King Pooh Jeter scored 13 points on 5-16 shooting for the Ukraine to go with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in a game-high 28 minutes and former Pistons/Suns big man Slava Kravtsov scored 15 points.
Team USA now has a day off and will play Mexico on Saturday in Barcelona in the first round of the knockout stages.
UPDATE:
