Kings vs. Warriors Preview: Hello darkness, my old friend

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

This is the darkest timeline.  Since Michael Malone's firing on December 13th, only the Knicks, Timberwolves and Lakers have a worse winning percentage than the Kings.  Meanwhile, the Warriors reached the 7th best record in NBA history through 41 games.  And we have to play them tonight.  In their arena.  Where they beat us by 20 a couple weeks ago. Today's action tips off at 7:30 pm on Comcast SportsNet California and on KHTK 1140.

1. It's hard to find a category the Warriors aren't among the league leaders in.  They're 4th in Offensive Rating, 1st in Defensive Rating, 1st in Pace, 1st in 3P%, 1st in 2P%, 2nd in Assists, 6th in Steals, and 2nd in Blocks.  This team gets it done on both ends of the court.

2. Try not to think that this Warriors team could be the Kings right now.  Sacramento had opportunities to draft Stephen Curry (Kings took Tyreke Evans), Klay Thompson (Jimmer Fredette), and Harrison Barnes (Thomas Flopinson).  Sigh.

3. The Warriors are 16 point favorites in this game according to Vegas. That feels low.

Kings fans vs. the Television Set

This game has the chance to get really bad.  The Warriors are soooooo good.  And the Kings have been soooooo bad.  The frustration among fans and the team itself has seemingly reached a boiling point, and I'm not sure how much more Kings fans can take.  If the Kings come out and play like they did against the Nets on Wednesday, they're going to lose by 50.   Even if the Kings play their best, this will be a tough game.  We just don't know what to expect from this team on a nightly basis aside from an overall feeling of disappointment.

This is the season that never ends
it goes on and on my friends
Thought we were close,
now we're morose.
This is the season that never ends.

Kings 1,353,242, Warriors 0 because these predictions are a magical place where the Kings always win and everyone gets a free puppy.
