Sacramento Kings waive Marshall Henderson and Vince Hunter

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Sacramento Kings today announced that they have waived guard Marshall Henderson and forward Vince Hunter.  With the cuts, Sacramento's roster now sits at 16 players.  The Kings already have 14 guaranteed players on the roster with the only players with unguaranteed deals being forward Eric Moreland and guard David Stockton.

Henderson and Hunter were never expected to make this Kings team, but that doesn't necessarily mean that their time with Sacramento is over.  NBA rules dictate that the final three cuts from an NBA's training camp roster can be assigned to that team's D-League affiliate: in this case, the Reno Bighorns.  Henderson and Hunter can opt to play basketball elsewhere, but if they want to play in the D-League, it will be in Reno.  That doesn't give the Kings exclusive rights though;  Any team can call them up and sign them.

The final decision between David Stockton and Eric Moreland will likely be made soon after the final preseason game.  Both players have played sparingly this preseason but Moreland has looked more impressive.  He is coming off his best game in a Kings uniform, totaling 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks in just 15 minutes against the Lakers.
