Kings vs. Spurs Preview: Return of the Jimmer

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

After losing last night in Phoenix, the Kings don't have much time to think about because they're back in action tonight against the visiting San Antonio Spurs.  Not only is the game at home but it's actually being televised locally on CSN California and as always on KHTK 1140 for the radio.  Tip-off is at 7:00 PM Pacific Time.

Three Questions:

1. Can the Kings limit the turnovers?  Turnovers are bound to be a problem with a team filled with mostly new players and shaking off summer rust, but some of the turnovers the Kings have committed in the first two games have been particularly egregious.  As Coach Karl said after the first game, guys need to be able to make the simple play instead of trying to force something that isn't there.

2. Will George Karl continue to not go deep into his bench?  So far the Kings have stuck with about 10 players each game playing the majority of minutes.  We haven't seen Seth Curry, Duje Dukan, David Stockton, Vince Hunter or Marshall Henderson at all.  At least one of those guys should probably be seeing a little bit of time, especially since it's preseason.  I personally want to see Curry of those guys the most, since the Kings are betting a lot on him as a 3rd string Point Guard behind an injury prone Rondo.

3.  Has Popovich finally gone full Pop?  Not only are the Spurs not bringing Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Boris Diaw to Sacramento (which I totally understand, it's preseason, those guys don't need the extra miles on their legs), he's not even bringing HIMSELF to the game.  Instead the game is going to be coached by Ettore Messina.  We should still be able to see a little bit of some of the Spurs' newer additions like LaMarcus Aldridge, David West, "Sweet Baby Ray" McCallum and of course, Jimmer Fredette.
