DeMarcus Cousins diagnosed with right achilles strain and is day-to-day

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

On Saturday night, Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins left the game against the LA Clippers with what was being called a sore right achilles.  He did not return to play in the second half and the Kings said they would have him take a precautionary MRI on Sunday.  The results of that MRI are back and Cousins' injury turns out to be a little more severe than expected, with the official diagnosis being a right Achilles strain.

Cousins will officially be listed as day-to-day while he recovers.  The Kings have a couple days of rest before returning to action against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.  Cousins has averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds, 2.3 assists and a block through the first three games of the season.  He will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Kosta Koufos if Cousins misses any time.

The season's still early, so I hope Cousins takes as much time as he needs to get right for the rest of the year. Get well soon Boogie.
