On Oct. 15, 2016, the five-story glass hangar doors at the entrance of the Golden 1 Center will open and one of the first events at the new downtown arena will take place. Maroon 5 is the first announced show at the Golden 1 Center, according to the Sacramento Kings.

In a statement, Kings owner Vivek Ranadive referred to the announcement as an indication of the acts to come at the new facility.

"World-class entertainment will have a new home in downtown Sacramento," Ranadive said. "Amazingly passionate fans, next-generation acoustics, and an iconic setting will ensure that Golden 1 Center will become a must-play for artists and entertainers of every genre. Hosting Maroon 5 during our opening week, one of the world's most popular acts, is a great indicator of what's to come."

Tickets will go on sale on Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. For those looking to get a first shot at tickets, on Nov. 9, American Express card members will have early access to presale tickets available at 10 a.m. A fan club presale will also take place on Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. A Live Nation presale will begin on Nov. 12 at 10 a.m.

A few weeks after the Maroon 5 concert, of course, the Kings will kick of their 2016-17 season.

An entertainment district known as the "Downtown Commons," or DOCO as the cool kids call it, will surround the new arena. The district will feature restaurants and entertainment venues.

If you haven't been by the arena lately, it looks like a real arena now. The exterior facade wraps the facility with a large space at the entrance waiting for the hangar doors to be installed. Much interior work has taken place in recent weeks, including HVAC ductwork and drywall installation. Installation and connection of underground utilities at L and J Streets and installation of roofing at the practice facility also took place.
