As a longtime fan of the Sacramento Kings, I've trained myself to be a cynic. Don't get excited. Expect the worst. And for the most part this has served me well. But I'm an optimist at heart, and sometimes I can't help but buy in. I'm dreading this offseason in many ways, to the extent that my stomach knots up when I think of all the ways it could go wrong. Nonetheless, I'm finding myself buying in, and it's entirely because of Vlade Divac.
Divac is definitively in charge of the basketball side of operations. He's calling the shots and steering the ship. He's the one giving interviews and representing the team. And I'm choosing to trust in his abilities. Vlade is intelligent, experienced, and has seen firsthand how successful franchises operate.
I recently mentioned on The Sactown Royalty Show that my biggest fear with Vlade is that his moves in the front office could tarnish his legacy as a player. While that concern will always remain, I'm going to put it to the side. I'm going to trust Vlade until he gives me reason not to.
I'm all in. I trust that Vlade will handle the draft and the offseason well. I believe next season will be a fun time to be a Kings fan. Let's do this.
