With Free Agency starting at 12:01 AM on Wednesday July 1st I have put together a list of potential realistic free agents the Kings could possibly target. I do not want every player on the list below. But this is a starting point to realistic free agents the Kings could target and could obtain based on the cap room they have going into this summer.
Sacramento Kings Salary: $59.7 Million (http://www.basketballinsiders.com/sacramento-kings-team-salary/)
Cap Room: Projected $9.1 Million
Trades can happen or we can stretch and waive Landry's contract to allow for more spending money. But assuming we only have $9.1 million to work with and off of the blow list (I think these guys are reasonable) who would you go after? Would you spend the entire amount on a guy like Danny Green or Rajon Rondo? Would you go for Patrick Beverly and Corey Brewer together?
What are your thoughts? What would you do this off season as far as free agents? I have my notes below.
Patrick Beverly ($900 K last season)
Notes: I think having a backup PG who is a good defender and can knock down threes would be good. But i'd rather spend more or trade for a more dynamic PG.
Corey Brewer ($4.7 Million last year)
Notes: Played with George Karl. Great defender on the wing and wouldn't cost too much.Notes:
Lou Williams ($5.4 last season)
Notes: 6th Man of the year. I think he would cost almost all of our cap space.
DeMare Carrol ($2.4 Million last year)
Notes: I think whatever we offer Atlanta will just match but I think he would be what Vlade is looking for as far as a guy who can play multiple positions and guard multiple guys.
Monta Ellis ($8.9 Million last year)
Notes: If he accepts scoring bench role with a decent contract I would definitely like him on our team.
Rajon Rondo ($12.9 Million last year)
Notes: Always been a huge rondo fan. But game is changing and his FT% is awful and his 3pt% sucks. But he does so much defensively and getting guys involved. I would take a 1 year flier on him.
Mo Williams ($3.9 Million last year)
Notes: Think he would be a good backup PG.
Arron Afflalo ($7.5 Million last season)
Notes: Played with George Karl. Knows system and can bridge gap until Ben is more consistent. Possible Knee issue tho.
Rodney Stuckey ($900 K last season)
Notes: Played much better this year and shouldn't cost to much. Can be a backup combo guard and can also start if needed.
Wes Matthews ($7.2 Million last season)
Notes: Sadly I do not think we have a chance unless we over pay and somehow come up with more cap room.
Danny Green ($4 Million last season)
Notes: I woud give this guy the entire cap room. SG/SF defensive wing and can hit threes. Plus he's a spur.
Kosta Koufos ($3 Million last season)
Notes: Played in George Karl's system and a good backup center. Shouldn't cost too much to obtain.
Omri Casspi ($900 K last season)
Notes: He loves Sacramento and I definitely want him back as a backup SF unless we just don't have the room available.
