CSN California's Bill Herenda reported just minutes ago that the Sacramento Kings have voided the contract of Luc Mbah A Moute because of a failed physical. The Kings have since confirmed through their own press release.
This isn't as shocking as it sounds. Mbah A Moute has had various knee issues throughout his career, so it doesn't surprise me that something would come up during a routine physical. With that being said, we don't know exactly what caused the failed physical, a knee issue is just my educated guess.
It's worth noting that Mbah A Moute said that he is as healthy right now as he has been for quite some time.
The Kings have had a similar situation happen in recent history. Chuck Hayes failed his physical in 2011, but after a second opinion the Kings' concern was alleviated and he signed his contract again shortly after. As a minimum or near minimum salary, the Kings could easily revisit Mbah A Moute later in free agency, or offer him a new unguaranteed contract that would protect the team if something does flare up.
