Willie Cauley-Stein named to All-Rookie 2nd Team

Kimani Okearah

It's safe to say that most Kings fans were pretty happy with last year's lottery selection of Willie Cauley-Stein and his performance over his rookie year.  In fact, one point of contention many fans had with George Karl was the fact that he wasn't playing Cauley-Stein more.

So it's nice to see that Willie's solid rookie year has been rewarded with an All-Rookie 2nd Team selection, which honestly comes as a little bit of a surprise to me as Willie didn't post huge numbers or anything (and also isn't the type of guy to seek numbers).  Willie joins Emmanuel Mudiay, Myles Turner, D'Angelo Russell and Justise Winslow on the 2nd team.  Karl-Anthony Towns, Kristaps Porzingis, Nikola Jokic, Devin Booker and Jahlil Okafor make up the 1st team.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Willie develops in the years to come, especially under Dave Joerger's tutelage. Willie showed last year he's got more in his bag of tricks than simply being a defensive roleplayer and I'm sure our new coach will be trying to make the use of Willie's multiple talents.

Cauley-Stein is the first Kings rookie since Isaiah Thomas to make an All-Rookie team.
