We know the Kings need backcourt help in a big way, but it's still a bit of a surprise to see D'Angelo Russell, last year's number two pick, connected to the Kings in any way. Apparently, they've been trying to go after him, although current efforts have been futile.
Sacramento has been heavily engaged in trade talks all week and sources say one player they've tried to land is the Lakers' D'Angelo Russell— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) June 23, 2016
Russell, of course, has been on the rocks with the Lakers despite a promising rookie campaign after his much publicized incident with Nick Young. Still, the young guard has plenty of talent and is a better prospect than almost anyone in this draft, and has one year of NBA experience already. He'd likely command a high price in any trade, and we'll see if the Kings continue to pursue him now that they also have the 22nd pick in this year's draft.
