Sacramento Kings bring Matt Barnes home on a 2 year, $12 million deal

Well the Kings struck out on Ryan Anderson and traded the rights to Marquese Chriss to Phoenix but they're bringing at least one Sacramento native back home.  I'm talking of course, about Matt Barnes.

Barnes is joining the Kings on a 2 year, $12 million deal.  CSN California's James Ham was first with the details.  Per Ham, this is the reason that Seth Curry's qualifying offer was rescinded.

It's well known that new Kings head coach David Joerger was very fond of Barnes during his time in Memphis.  Barnes played a variety of roles for the Grizzlies last season as they dealt with injuries, including that of a small-ball Power Forward.  Barnes brings toughness and defense to the Kings but also an abrasive personality that has caused problems both on and off the floor at times during his career.

With the signing of Barnes, the Kings likely don't have any room left to sign anyone else aside from minimum contracts.  That is of course, barring trades that might and probably will happen.  Rudy Gay and Kosta Koufos remain the obvious candidates for possible trades.
