DeMarcus Cousins returns to Sacramento Thursday night for his first game since the Kings traded him to the New Orleans Pelicans last February. Cousins was a polarizing figure throughout his tenure in Sacramento. One subset believed Cousins was the future, and was blindsided by the trade. Another subset felt the trade was long overdue, and had long ago grown tired of his antics. I’d say the majority of the fan base fell somewhere in the middle. So the question now is how will the Kings faithful welcome back Boogie?
I expect mostly cheers during his introduction, with a smattering of boos thrown in. As the game progresses, I wouldn’t be surprised if he receives a chorus of boos in response to....something. It could be an outburst, it could be a taunt to the crowd, who knows? I’m really hoping Vivek Ranadivé sits courtside.
What do you think? Whether you’ll be in attendance or not, how do you think the crowd will react?
