NBA Draft Rumors: Lakers are considering drafting De’Aaron Fox with the #2 pick

What will the Kings do if De’Aaron Fox is off the board?

Just when you thought the top-2 picks in the 2017 NBA Draft were locked in, Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders reported that the Lakers are not completely sold on drafting Lonzo Ball, and are still considering De’Aaron Fox at #2.

This is of particular interest to the Kings for a few reasons.

  1. The Kings want De’Aaron Fox, and if the draft shakes out how we think it’ll shake out, they are going to get him.
  2. The Lakers, knowing the Kings want Fox, coupled with a previous bad rumor that the Lakers and Kings discussed a #5 and #10 for #2 trade, are trying to spook Sacramento one last time.
  3. If true, this greatly increases the likelihood that Josh Jackson would fall to #5, which is exactly who the Knicks are targeting in any Kristaps Porzingis trades.

Above all else, this is a bad rumor. It doesn’t make a ton of sense, but Kyler has been right on occasion, so, make of it what you will.
