Full disclosure: I'm not a draft expert. I'm just a software engineer at a video game company in Vancouver. It took me a while to realize that ranking players myself was an exercise in futility. Teams have dozens of scouts, analysts and basketball minds that are among the best in the world. And while we don't have access to teams' draft boards, we have a variety of websites to rely upon for scouting as well as leaked info from team execs. But one or two media sources rarely encapsulate the general consensus of opinions.
This is why I created a spreadsheet that gathers rankings from several media outlets and analyzes the data in an admittedly crude way. They are sorted by a simple weighted mean that I came up with.
"Wght" = 0.5 * Mean + 0.25 * (DX + ESPN) + 0.25 * Median
Given that ESPN and DX have more resources available to them, their rankings count for a bit more. The added weight of the median is simply to give less weight to some of the outliers (I'm looking at you NBADraft.net and your OG ranking).
Also, if someone is listed as a 40 in the chart, that really means 40 or above. Some of the rankings were heavily skewed by outliers and besides, once a player is ranked after 40 it's all a wash anyway. The NBA.com column is instead capped at 31 because their last ranking only listed the top 30.
