More prospects head to town for a group workout.

The Kings are busy on the workout front, bringing in another talented group tomorrow. The group is headlined by Louisville’s Donovan Mitchell, a player many consider could be taken in the later part of the lottery. Mitchell’s a combo guard with some serious athleticism and defensive potential.

Joining Mitchell are Kentucky’s Dominique Hawkins, Purdue’s Caleb Swanigan, Nevada’s Cameron Oliver, Louisiana Tech’s Erik McCree and Cal’s Jabari Bird. Both Swanigan and Oliver are expected to be drafted in the second round, where the Kings have the 34th pick. Swanigan was one of the best rebounders in college basketball last year, pulling in 12.5 boards as a sophomore. He can also step outside and hit a three, nailing 44.7% of his attempts last season. Oliver is a Sacramento product from Grant High School. While a bit undersized for a big man, he’s got great athleticism and averaged almost three blocks a game. Like Swanigan, he too can step out and shoot the ball, making 38.4% of his threes while shooting almost five of them a game.

This type of workout might have been a highlight over the last couple of seasons, but this year it’s becoming the norm. The Kings are bringing in a lot of talent and should have plenty of information to make an informed decision come draft day.
