Earlier this season, Kings rookie guard Frank Mason missed 21 games due to a partial tear in the plantar fascia of his right foot. After missing the last game against the Spurs, Mason had an MRI which revealed yet another plantar fascia tear but this time in his other foot. According to the Kings, this tear wasn’t as severe and normal recovery time would be about two weeks, but for the Kings, the season ends tomorrow. Mason will have plenty of time to recover before joining the Kings Summer League team in Las Vegas later this year.
Mason had a good start to his rookie season but struggled as the season went along with his efficiency. In 52 games, Mason averaged 7.9 points on 37.9% from the field (36.0% from three) along with 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds a game. Going into next season, Mason will need to continue to work on his efficiency, particularly when attacking the rim.
