Kings 96, Rockets 83: The Season is Over

New, comments

But the most important off-season in memory begins...

Kimani Okearah

Well the game was practically sealed when the Houston Rockets announced that they essentially forfeited the game, but you never know as Kings fans, am I right?

The Rockets played a bunch of randoms (okay not really but you get the point) for today’s game as they gear up for the playoffs as the team to beat in the west.

Joe Johnson returned to play against his former team and he only scored four points on 2/10 shooting. He must be upset that he didn’t get a tribute video or something. P.J. Tucker only scored three points on 1/7 shooting but Gerald Green carried the Rockets with 31 points on 11/22 shooting including going 7/17 from three. The Rockets shot 38% from the field today, but it’s really not a surprise with who they had playing and who they had missing.

The Kings came out and did what was expected of them against the line-up they were facing. Willie Cauley-Stein scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on 9/12 shooting in 20 minutes to lead the Kings in scoring. Buddy Hield scored 14 off the bench to lead the bench in scoring. De’Aaron Fox and JaKarr Sampson each scored 11 while Vince Carter and Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 12 each. Jack Cooley scored 10 off the bench but here are my two takeaways:

  1. Justin Jackson was 0-8 overall, 0-6 from three and therefore, didn’t score. He did have four rebounds and two assists but this is very concerning and this is also the reason the Kings need a reliable small forward.
  2. Bruno Caboclo didn’t play a single minute in a game where he should’ve had decent minutes come his way. I’d assume he doesn’t have a future in Sacramento but we’ll see.

I’m not going to talk about stats or any of that today because this game doesn’t matter too much (except for the lottery balls).

Instead I just wanted to say that I’ll miss Jerry just like all of us and that if Vince is down for one more season, I’m down for him to be back.

And of course, I just want to thank everyone involved with Sactown Royalty, from the amazing staff and the great fans, for letting me be apart of your Kings lives. These past few months have been awesome and I can’t wait to spend more time here!

Now bring on the off-season...
