Well, Will. You were completely right. If any team was going to blow this up for the Suns, it would be the Kangz. A terrible effort for the majority of the game by Sacramento on both sides of the ball was your storyline for today’s game.
The Kings made a comeback attempt late and had two chances at tying the game at 97, but both Bogdan Bogdanovic and Justin Jackson missed back-to-back three pointers so the game ended at 97-94. Phoenix snaps a 15-game losing streak.
Positives from the game
Justin Jackson played 42 minutes but had a bounce back game and played really well. He had 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists on 7/11 shooting (3/5 from three). Lots to like from his performance today. He even nailed a three-pointer from beyond half-court but he didn’t get it off in time for it to count.
Bogdan Bogdanovic also was big for the Kings today, scoring 22 points in 37 minutes on 8/21 shooting. He was also 4/9 from three.
Negatives from the game
De’Aaron Fox didn’t shoot the ball very well and was even 0/8 at one point. He finished the game 3/14 from the field (2/4 from three) for 14 points to go along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Buddy Hield played 25 minutes today and scored 10 points on 4/11 shooting. He didn’t have an assist either. This was a great opportunity for Buddy to have a big game but it didn’t happen.
Nigel Hayes was 1/6 from the field and Frank Mason III was 0/5. With Hield struggling as well, the Kings didn’t have any reliable bench production even though it is one of their strengths this season. Skal Labissiere, Garrett Temple and Kosta Koufos all didn’t play either.
The Kings only shot 37% from the field.
Sacramento allowed Josh Jackson to go off for 28 points while the Suns bench was also very productive. Alex Len, Danuel House Jr. and Shaquille Harrison all were big for the Suns off the bench.
The Kings travel to Memphis to take on another terrible team in the Grizzlies this Friday at 5:00 PM PST.
