The Kings avoided any immediate impulse signings

No big signings also means no big mistakes

The Sacramento Kings remained silent in the opening volley of 2018 free agency. Several big stars have already determined their destinations, such as Paul George, Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan, and Chris Paul. Several role players have also be signed, including Doug McDermott to the Pacers, Derrick Rose back with the Timberwolves, and Trevor Ariza to the Suns.

SB Nation has a handy free agency tracker to help you keep up on all the signings.

The Ariza deal highlights why I’m happy the Kings have yet to make a move. The Suns had about $16 million in cap space, and spent $15 million of it on Ariza. The Suns have plenty of wings and really need a point guard. Just a baffling signing.

The Kings have been linked in rumors to Jabari Parker, Mario Hezonja, and Zach LaVine, but so far nothing has come of those rumors.

We’ll continue to provide updates on Kings-specific news. In the meantime you can use this as a day 2 open thread.
