Yesterday the NBA announced the rosters for the Rising Stars Challenge, featuring 20 of the best first and second year players in the NBA, and for the second straight year the Kings will be represented well; De’Aaron Fox, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Marvin Bagley III were all announced to the roster, making it the second straight year the Kings had three players in the competition.

Both Fox and Bogdanovic made the team last year, with Bogdanovic winning MVP honors after a 26 point and 6 assist performance, including 7 of 13 from downtown.

De’Aaron Fox only scored 4 points in last year’s competition but his second year leap has made him a contender for not just the Rising Stars challenge but the NBA All-Star game itself. Fox’s rise has helped propel the Kings to prominence for the first time in years as they are .500 through 50 games for the first time in over a decade. Fox will also reportedly be playing in the NBA Skills Challenge although that has not been made official as of yet.

Marvin Bagley III might not have gotten as much hype as some other draft picks, including some players he will be facing on Team World such as Luka Doncic and Deandre Ayton, but he’s quietly having a very good rookie year. It will be fun to see him in this type of competition where he perhaps might get to show off some other aspects of his game.

The Rising Stars Challenge will take place on Feb. 15th, 2019.
