In the misspent weekends and summers of my youth, I could often be found at Pro Sports in Sunrise Mall. They carried jerseys, hats, and (most importantly) posters. NBA posters covered my walls, and there was nothing better than a poster of a nasty dunk being thrown down. These days I hear that Pro Sports has closed, and posters aren’t as important as they once were thanks to the ease of access to video. You no longer need a poster to commemorate a dunk when you can watch it endlessly online. The last remaining trace of the once important poster is the term “posterize”. To put someone on a poster. And that’s what De’Aaron Fox did to poor Nikola Vucevic last night.
After the dunk Fox added the icing on the cake, taunting Vuc with “don’t jump. Don’t jump,” earning himself a technical foul.
After the tech Fox sat the remainder of the game. The Kings were comfortably ahead and Dave Joerger rested his starters so they’d be fresh for the Phoenix Suns tonight. It was a perfect time to pull Fox. He’d already notched 20 points and 5 steals and ripped the heart out of the Orlando Magic.
I just wish they still turned these into actual posters.
