De’Aaron Fox suffers ankle sprain, per report

Kimani Okearah

De’Aaron Fox suffered an ankle injury at practice on Monday. The injury was first reported by ESPN’s Zach Lowe. James Ham was the first to confirm the injury after an MRI, and Ham reports Fox will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks.

This is horrible news for the Kings, who are still a few weeks away from getting Marvin Bagley III back from a thumb injury.

Cory Joseph will presumably take over the starting point guard spot, with Yogi Ferrell as primary backup and Bogdan Bogdanovic also handling play making with the second unit.

Hopefully Fox makes a speedy recovery, but the Kings will surely take a cautious approach bringing him back.

This is feeling like a season from hell.

Update: Zach Lowe reports that the injury occurred when someone stepped on Fox’s foot. Lowe is not reporting who injured Fox, presumably to allow time for that player to escape Sacramento with their life.

James Ham is reporting it is a grade 3 ankle sprain.
