The Kings aren’t done adding depth just yet. Despite signing three players yesterday, the Kings were still looking for some more depth up front and found their answer in hustle player Richaun Holmes.
Holmes comes to Sacramento after a good season in Phoenix where he averaged 8.2 points (on a very efficient 60.8% from the field), 4.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in just 16.9 minutes a game. As Kings fans themselves saw in Sacramento’s matchups with Phoenix last season, Holmes brought a ton of energy and hustle whenever he came into the game and should fit in nicely with this young, athletic Kings team.
Holmes himself will only be 26 next season and might be more versatile than we expect. While he didn’t shoot any threes this season, he showed off some range in his sophomore season in Philadelphia when he made 35.1% of his 77 three point attempts. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Kings encourage him to revisit that part of his game.
This is yet another valuable depth signing for the Kings, but also might signal the end of a pretty successful free agency unless they plan on adding anyone via minimum contracts.
