Have you ever seen Unbreakable? It’s a wonderful little superhero movie that M. Night Shyamalan made before he and Bruce Willis stopped giving two shits about quality where Brucie has to to contemplate whether he’s an indestructible superhuman or just being manipulated by a comic fanatic with Bird Bone Disease. The twist is he’s both! Well the other night I was deep into cutting a block of cheese and my hand slipped and suddenly the block of cheese was deep into cutting me. Turns out, if I’ve got a super power, it hasn’t been featured in a movie yet! So my apologies for missing that last preview ya’ll, I’ll stick to spray cheese from now on. Speaking of sudden, hacky changes in subject, the Bucks are in Sacramento tonight! This is one of those special opportunities to see the best player on Earth is carrying the best team in the NBA and dragging the best record in the league with them. There are certainly games this season where I’ve warned you as an audience against viewership but this isn’t going to be one of them.
When: Friday, January 10th, 7:00 PST
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
TV: NBCSCA
Radio: KHTK Sports 1140 AM
For Your Consideration
I could legitimately write Giannis Antetokounmpo’s name over and over and I’d feel that’s a legitimate reason to consider watching. The kid is averaging the second most points in the NBA and isn’t even in the Top 50 of minutes played. But it isn’t just Giannis - this is the best built team in the NBA. They have surrounded Giannis with complimentary players at every position and have an intelligent coaching staff utilizing them in an offensive and defensive scheme that just works. For anyone visiting from other sites wondering why I’m gushing over the high bar that is “the team works well together in a good system”, I refer you to the last fourteen years of Sacramento basketball. Kings fans are standing on Watt lifting the hood on their smoking Cadillac Cimarron while the Bucks doing Aileron rolls over McClellan Park. Here’s a fun exercise that I like to do when the Kings run up against the best team in league: we’re going to list out some of the things that the Bucks are #1 at this season. The Bucks are #1 in points per game at 118.9, Pace, Defensive Rating, Field Goals Made, two point percentage at 57.3%, Defensive Rebounds, Total Rebounds, Margin of Victory (besting teams by an average of almost 12 points per game), Opponent’s two point and total Field Goal Percentage at 41.3%, Effective Field Goal Percentage and Opponent’s Effective Field Goal percentage and finally, Simple Rating System, which basically math’s point differential and strength of schedule. Oh and just for fun, they’re also third in offensive rating, third in blocks, have the fifth fewest player fouls.
They’re very, very good.
I don’t have much else to say. Watching this game tonight might be akin to those Civil War era families that went and found grassy knolls to picnic and watch while the Battle of Manassas raged.
Prediction
Kings continue to pick up the pace and run the Bucks out of the gym! Giannis? More like Ya-Ain’t-Innis game, pal!
Kings: 117, Bucks: 114
