Kings basketball is back! No more #SummerKings, overly-reaching preseason takes or speculation surrounding how this team will play. Tonight, a new season of Sacramento Kings basketball will commence with a clean slate.

Sacramento will take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT from the Moda Center in Portland. From the final scenes of training camp, tip-off is swelling with excitement as the Kings look to get off the ground and begin competing.

“We’re excited. We’re playing against one of the best backcourts in the NBA in [Damian Lilliard] and [CJ McCollum] and a group of guys that have been together and know how to play together really well,” Tyrese Haliburton told reporters on Monday. “They go to the playoffs every year. We’re looking forward to that challenge.”

Exactly one week ago, Sacramento had an opportunity to see Portland in their third contest of the preseason, however, tonight’s match-up should look like a completely different ballgame with the powerhouse backcourt of Lillard and McCollum and a larger selection of role players in Nassir Little, Ben McLemore, Norman Powell and Jusuf Nurkic.

Luke Walton shared with reporters yesterday that Sacramento is entering the season with a roster full of entirely healthy players (sans Marvin Bagley — yikes), so this will be a solid litmus test to see if the Kings can return and make applicable adjustments to a team they just beat.
